MATERIAL DESCRIPTION.

NAME OF THE MATERIAL

MAGMA® The New Liquid Stone.

MANUFACTURER

C37 (Material Development Studio)
Padre Mier 1070 Col. Centro 64000 Monterrey, Nuevo León - México

DESCRIPTION

MAGMA® : It is the first commercially available material belonging to the C37 material library; a stone-like porous material that has the same appearance and texture as basaltic stone (lava stone). In addition to being 23% lighter than the original stone, it can be cast in a mold to achieve organic shapes impossible to achieve with natural stone. After it is hardened, it can be transformed with tools for metals and wood. A lot of different colors are available and customizable on demand.

COMPOSITION

MAGMA® is a material for solid surfaces. It is porous and heterogeneous, made of 20% polymer and 80% minerals

aPplications

This material can be applied in different industries, such as architectural, industrial design, automotive, fashion and jewelry.

C37 SERVICES.

make with magma

The production service with MAGMA ® helps brands and studios create unique and high quality products, avoiding the use of common materials and enabling new business opportunities while standing out from the competition.

01. SEND DESIGN & PROTOTYPE.

C37 will help you translate your design in order to be faster & cheaper to produce with the new liquid stone. The prototype stage includes :
A. Technical Design Feedback
B. Printing of 3D Model.
C. Mold engineering.
D. Prototyping

02. PRODUCE.

Once the prototype is approved, order at least 100 pieces to be produced with MAGMA® in an industrial scale for a wholesale price.

03. DELIVER

We ship quality MAGMA ® pieces woldwide.

magma products

Request our pre-designed wall and tile panels for interior projects. Sizes vary from 10 x 10 cm to 120 x 244 cm.

CUSTOMIZED MAGMA FORMULA.

The MAGMA® formula has properties for certain applications. If your project requires MAGMA® with specific technical or aesthetic properties, you can contract our Material Development Service to produce a new formula that meets the technical needs of your project.

Example: Develop MAGMA for car interiors, shoe soles ... etc.

BENEFITS.

Webp.net-gifmaker (24).gif

looks like stone.

It looks and feels the same as lava stone. Compared to other materials that try to imitate basalt, MAGMA® has the same texture due to its porous surface.

a liquid formula.

It's original state is semi-liquid, allowing the material to be casted in a mold and create aesthetically interesting shapes, difficult to achieve with stone and other materials.

Much LIGHTer & strongER.

It is 20% lighter than basaltic stone.

It can also reach greater slimness without breaking, reducing the weight of products and has a higher resistance to impact than basalt. This creates opportunities for new applications.

COLORFUL stone.

Opposite to basalt stone, MAGMA® comes in gray and colorful shades. Any additional color can be developed, including a Terrazzo look.

COLOR palette.

Seven colors of stone

Inspired by other ceramics, stones and colors found in nature, the MAGMA® Color Palette was developed by C37. Choose your favorite color from the 07 swatches designed by C37.

*Color may vary, making each piece unique.

If you want to develop a new color or terrazo, request our material development service.

finishes

MAGMA® can be acquired in two textures: High porosity and Low porosity.

High porosity.

Feels the same as basalt. Its pores are only on the surface, having a solid structure with higher strength.

Low Porosity.

Has minimum quantity of pores on the surface, while keeping the basalt aesthetic appearance.
Choose the texture depending on the look, feel and functionality of your product.
*Texture may vary, making each piece unique.

Glossy.

A coat of glossy finish is applied to give a wet look that will last. This finish also provides extra protection.

DESIGN GUIDELINES.

HANDLING AND CARE.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE.

The surface of MAGMA® may be restored with soft abrasive tools and cleaning chemicals. Most stains can be easily removed with water and soft cleaners. Some chemical products must not be used to avoid staining and damaging the product.

For example: Acid cleaners, oils. Damages caused by inadequate use and cleaning tools and chemicals may be consulted with C37 studio.

MAGMA® is an inert material. When burned, it mainly emits carbon gas, and produces smoke.

Waterproof.
Dishwashable.
Do not microwave.
Not oven safe.

LIMITATION.

Under normal conditions, MAGMA®  supports up to 100º celsius before changing its properties.

As it is made up of natural minerals, it may have slight differences in shades between products. When using the High Porosity finish, the surface may become stained  by absorption of substances.

Product surface may be protected from substances by applying a transparent lacquer, sealer or natural oils.

*These limitations apply only to the original MAGMA®  formula and may be adjusted to specific needs*

INSTALLATION.

SEALANTS AND ADHESIVES.

MAGMA® is compatible with several adhesives and sealants in the market for metals, polymers and wood.  Select the characteristics that are required for the final use of the piece to choose the most suitable sealant.

For architectural installations, such as floor and wall, it is recommended to use adhesives used in the installation of ceramic mosaics and concrete slabs.
To adhere a label or any other material to MAGMA®,  the adhesive recommended is a cold silicon (soft) or epoxy adhesive.

Screwing may be used for mechanical joints.

AVAILABILITY AND COST.

AVAILABILITY

Remember to contact C37 to schedule an appointment to review design, cost and time of production.

COST

level of complexity + quantity of material used + quantity of order + due dates.

The production costs of MAGMA® products vary since each design is unique and has different production implications, it depends entirely on the complexity of the design, the time the products need to be delivered (how fast they need to be produced) and the quantity of products. We offer two budgets, the first one is of the production of the prototype and the second one is of the production of the product line.

The cost for the whole production is given after the prototype is approved.
